Many of the modern gas gun designs are based on the early invention of Gale in 1957. In fact, Gale’s invention was for a CO2 powered gas gun, which was granted a patent in the US (US Pat # 2,817,328).
Most modern designs have small details totally different from Gale’s work. However, Gale’s design is sufficient for explaining the way most gas powered guns work in a general sense.
