Voice introduction to AirsoftPRESS:

Today the definition of what constitutes an airsoft is much broader than it has ever been. We look at AEGs, GBBs, EBBs…etc. They all have a mechbox, a magazine, and some form of power mechanism. They mostly vary in terms of how powerful they are and how you may interact with them. The one thing we’ve done consistently since day one is evaluate all of these components and the proper methods that maintain and enhance them.

AirsoftPRESS technical books are written specifically for the do-it-yourselfer, yet are complete enough to be used by professional airsoft gunsmiths. Since 2005 AirsoftPRESS has produced technical books written from hands-on experience based on airsoft teardown with hundreds of photos and illustrations, making AirsoftPRESS the world leader in airsoft technical information.

We are close to the source. As said by Mike (our Chief Editor), the ability to have weekly lunch gatherings with the manufacturers’ techies (i.e. the for-sure true and correct information sources) allows us to obtain correct answers to the difficult Airsoft questions. This is an advantage no one else in this field can have (and our writers are all technies themselves). And we have been part of the Airsoft industry for over a decade. Because we are part of the industry, we know what information is really needed, and we make sure our books tell what people really need to know. We do not mind to say bad things about airsoft product that doesn’t work, and we will not hesitate to give you hacks and workarounds to difficult airsoft problems. Reading one of our books should be like having an airsoft professional by your side, passing on useful hints whenever you get stuck.

There’s a spectrum of coverage when it comes to airsoft product or technology. Going too far to one side and you end up with superficial content that’s hardly better than a paid  press release. Ending up too far on the opposite side however and you end up with books that aren’t really accessible to the majority of readers. Our goal is to end up somewhere in between, erring on the side of being extremely thorough wherever possible. We don’t paginate material to increase page counts. Instead we break them apart across logical boundaries to improve readability.

Our review process

AirsoftPRESS is not owned by any airsoft manufacturer. We always maintain clear separation between editorial and advertising. Continuing with our pursuit of building trustworthy content, we always refuse to republish industry press releases and rumors. Our readers should be able to trust that they are reading accurate TECHNICAL CONTENT in our publications. The majority of what we review is provided directly by the manufacturer of the product. The product samples are delivered to us with the expectations of us providing a fair thorough technical review. Here are some important points as to how the submission and evaluation process works:

  • We do not charge any fees for reviewing product samples or publishing the reviews.  This means there is no bias when the products are evaluated. Evaluations are completed by our review team and/or hired experts as needed.
  • Products that pass the evaluation process will be incorporated in our publications for demonstration.
Manufacturers are encouraged to send their products for review to bring additional exposure to their offerings.  There is no limit as to the number of products that any one manufacturer can have reviewed at one time.
  • Evaluations and reviews are generally completed within 6~8 weeks following the receipt of the product (with occasionally exception).  The time varies based on the volume of products currently submitted, as well as the complexity of the product. Product that requires assmebly generally require a much longer time to complete the review.
  • Products are not returned to manufacturers upon completion of the evaluation as they are used beyond just the product specialist team.  Many times they are given away to users for further field testing.
  • While safety is a primary concern for most products, we do not directly test safety.  These tests are left to the professional bodies that specialize in safety testing.

Our team members

Members of the AirsoftPRESS editorial team are practicing engineers, technicians and field operators who have been with Airsoft since the era of the S.S. 9000 series and the gas-electric hybrid Jatimatic (W.A. 1986). Being geographically close to the origin of Airsoft enables close contact with the major manufacturers, thus facilitating in-depth and accurate coverage of the hottest “toys of the trade”.
