The best way to gain power from a motor is to properly break-in the motor brushes and the bronze bushings. You want to first break-in the brush/commutator interface so that the brushes can conform better to the shape of the commutator. To do so is easy – just run the motor on 4 cells (1.2V on each cell) for several minutes until the full brush face is conformed to the commutator.
