Allowing smoother piston movement through surface polishing MAY benefit FPS because speed is part of the impact energy equation. You hit your target with something heavy that travels at a high speed and your target gets hurt more severely. The thing is that the benefit in terms of FPS improvement may not be too noticeable (the final outcome would differ a lot case by case as there are other factors at work). ROF-wise YES you will see a difference!
