If you experience frequent gun lockup (the motor fails to complete spring compression) something is wrong with shimming (or weak motor power due to poor wiring or weak battery…etc). Almost all motors in the market can handle PDI 170% flawlessly under proper configuration, unless something gets stuck inside (sometimes removing the sector gear delayer may help).
