If you fail to read the disc...

Please store your CDROM package in a dry place.

To troubleshoot disc read errors, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

  • Inspect the disc for visible deformation or substantial scratches. If the disc is damaged, obtain a replacement disc. If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.

  • Clean the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. To do this, use a disc cleaning kit, or gently wipe the silver side of the disc with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Do not use paper cloth which can scratch the plastic and leave streaks. When you clean the disc, wipe from the center of the disc outward. Do not use a circular motion. If the issue continues to occur, clean the disc with a damp cloth or a commercial CD or DVD cleaning solution. Dry the disc thoroughly before you insert it into the drive. If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.

  • Try the CD-ROM or DVD disk in another drive. If the disc works in this test, then the problem may be with the original drive not properly reading the disc. Please seek help from your computer or disc drive manufacturer. If your computer has multiple CD-ROM, CD-R, CD/RW or DVD drives, test the disc in the other drive. Note that if you see the same issues with a replacement disc as with the original disc, proceed to the next method.

  • If cleaning the CD-ROM or DVD does not resolve the issue, clean the disc drive using a CD-ROM or DVD drive cleaning disc if you have one. Drive cleaning discs are available in most computer or home electronics stores. If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.

  • Other applications may interfere with the reading of the disc, for example, anti-virus, firewall or anti-crash software. You should quit all visible programs that are currently running on your system and retry.

If you fail to run the ebook program...

Your system must be running Windows 2000, XP, 2003 or Vista in order to start the ebook program. The ebook program has a .EXE extension (in fact this is the only file in the CD that has a .EXE extension).

The program is supposed to be Windows Server 2003/2008 compatible.

If you have an Apple G4/G5 based Mac, you can install the Microsoft Virtual PC (vpc) software, which will allow you to run Windows XP and in turn open the eBook program. There are also other similar emulation software available on the internet. Refer to the following links for further information:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx?pid=virtualpc
http://www.macwindows.com/emulator.html

On the other hand, if you have a Linux based PC and you need a Windows emulation program, you may try out the Wine software at http://www.winehq.com/ .

Along the troubleshooting process if you need help cleaning up the Windows registry you may try out the tool listed below:

RegistryFix

If you have to change PC every week or month...

Instead of worrying about license reactivation, all you need is to print out a set of hard copy so you can read it even when you are totally offline.

If you fail to print out the pages correctly...

Please change your printer's settings and adjust the output paper size. In the US the suitable size is US Letter. In the UK the suitable size is A4.

If you can't print the book / it stops printing at a certain page...

Try restarting your computer and printer.

If you find errors in the contents...

Please submit your errata.

For your best protection, all of our outgoing emails are thoroughly scanned by a dedicated anti-virus software.
